"It" Girl Infatuation: Bing Bang Jewelry

Tuesday, July 17, 2012
If you are anything like me, you get really excited when you discover something new. Even if it's not "new," the feeling of uncovering what feels like a hidden treasure can be thrilling and turn into a total obsession. This typically happens for me with music, movies and, of course, designers.

I first discovered the Bing Bang brand when it was featured on BaubleBar. The name alone caught my eye, but then I saw it — skulls. Lots of skulls. Those who are closest to me know I have a slight obsession with skulls (and may even have a tattoo of a skull...), so I was immediately enamored. I purchased the Eternity Skull Ring in Silver, and was even more pleased with it when it arrived. I love the juxtaposition of edginess from an entire band made up of skulls, yet it feels delicate. I find this to be true for the brand overall: it presents a successful balance of femininity while each piece is completely bad ass.

Based in New York, Bing Bang is heavily influenced by founder Anna Sheffield's New Mexico background, as well as Punk Rock, Victorian keepsakes and New York City street culture. Anna, an established designer who has developed jewelry for the likes of Marc Jacobs and Phillip Lim, carried over her experience in blacksmithing, which means each piece is created using a hammer and anvil.

I've compiled a few more of my current favorite pieces below (I'm on a bit of a bracelet kick, can you tell?) I know as the line continues to evolve, I will find more I love!

Also, check out their Facebook page, where they post lots of fun pictures and trends. P.S. The line creates jewelry for the "It" Boys of the world, too!
