Britney Spears Shines for ELLE

Saturday, September 8, 2012
There is one "It" Girl who, until now, did not have a presence on this blog. To some, she may not even be considered a part of the category. But those who know me best know that, no matter what she wears, says or does, she will always have a place in my heart. And, truly, her "It" factor is what made me fall in love with her to begin with.

Who I speak of is none other than Britney Spears. Since the first time I heard the song "...Baby One More Time," I have been an unwavering Britney fan stan. Through her highs (I've seen her in concert five times, vividly remember sitting on the floor watching her 2000 MTV Video Music Awards performance and basically threw confetti when Femme Fatale dropped three top 10 singles), lows (let's not talk about it) and everything in between, I have felt nothing but a strong adoration and appreciation for her.

September marks a busy month for Britney, with the debut of her role as judge on "The X Factor" and TV appearances to support it, the launch of her Twister Dance commercial and a guest spot on a new song from will.i.am's album. One surprise and delight for me was learning she is ELLE's October cover girl.

The last time she covered the magazine was in 2010, when she appeared with her adorable sons, Sean (Preston) and Jayden. This time around, she is featured with her fiancé, Jason Trawick (or as I like to refer to him, Sam Merlotte).

Many do not associate Britney as a fashion icon, and she even tells the magazine high fashion really is not her thing: "I love my jeans and my sweats — I’m really just a tomboy at heart. So it’s really hard for me to be like Kim Kardashian and be makeup-and hair-ready every time I  go out of my house. I’m not a believer in that, you know? On the other hand, when you do wear those sweats, you’re like, Oh God, I should step it up a notch."

And that she did in the spread, decked in Versace, Jason Wu, Dolce & Gabbana, The Blonds, Roger Vivier and  Just Cavalli. Even the Kanye West boots look pretty damn great on her.

I am anxiously awaiting to receive a copy of this in my mailbox. And, of course, all of the fantastic gifs that will inevitably come out of The X Factor.
