An "It" Girl Christmas

Tuesday, November 27, 2012
Decorating, baking, shopping and party-hopping. The holiday season can be the busiest time of year for an "It" Girl. Luckily, it can also be the merriest.

From the tunes to the holiday-friendly outfits, the Christmas season is rich in opportunity to not only feel cheer from the festivities, but also recognize the important ones in our lives — whether that is family through blood, or the family we've created ourselves.

This post features a few of my favorite things about Christmas Time, both traditional and new. What are your must-haves?

The Music
There's nothing like holiday music; I think it might be my very favorite part of the season. If you read my boy bands post, it should come as no surprise that my most-played album is none other than *NSYNC's Home for Christmas. Usually, I have to restrain myself from listening to it as soon as Halloween ends, but like Nordstrom, I believe in celebrating one holiday at a time.

*NSYNC's "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays": A classic song and utterly hilarious video.

What songs get you in the spirit? For more of my favorite holiday tunes, you can check out my holidayified, Spotify playlist, featuring everything from Run-D.M.C.'s "Christmas in Hollis" to "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch."

The Movies
Speaking of the Grinch, the 1966 classic happens to be one of my very favorite Christmas movies. While the animated special is a mere 26 minutes in length, I have such fond memories of curling up on the couch and watching the story of the Grinch's heart grow from two sizes too small to three sizes larger. It's a tradition I keep going each year, and it is always the first movie I watch during the season.

Of course, there are so many great holiday flicks, but a couple of my most-loved are A Charlie Brown Christmas and I'll Be Home for Christmas, starring my first true love, Jonathan Taylor Thomas.

The Fashion
This year, I am all about festive sweaters, which take the concept of an "ugly sweater" and turn it into  something chic and incredibly fun. These charmers are perfect to pair with leggings or a skirt and tights.

It's no surprise Markus Lupfer offers a sequin-embellished version featuring Santa.

I also love Topshop's adorable polar bear version.

The Accessories
Between decking the halls and preparing for the parties, there are a few things every "It" Girl should have in her arsenal this season.

Glitter Platform Heel Ornaments: Because any "It" Girl can appreciate a good shoe.

One Direction Ornaments: For the "It" Girl with no shame (like me).

Jingle Bell Rocked Flask: Perfect party accompaniment.

Diane von Furstenberg Accessories Case: For all necessities (or a great stocking stuffer).

butter LONDON's Holiday Collection: In hues such as Fiddlesticks and Jack the Lad, this collection captures the fun and glamour of the season.
