Is there any job cooler than that of a stylist? Not only do these ladies and gentlemen get to work around clothes all day (swoon), they have the opportunity to collaborate with celebrities and bring characters to life in editorials, film and television through wardrobe.
I was excited to recently have the opportunity to chat with the "Aussie Rachel Zoe," Sophia Banks-Coloma. Sophia is the real-deal — a renowned stylist who has worked with some of my very favorite "It" Girls, including Blake Lively; a fashion designer for Whitley Kros, a label worn by Kate Hudson, Selena Gomez and Rachel McAdams; and a red carpet stylist, wardrobe consultant and recipient of Harper's Bazaar’s “Style Leader” award.
For her latest project, Sophia was the fashion expert for the upcoming independent film, Syrup, based on the international best-selling book by Maxx Berry. Starring Amber Heard and Kellan Lutz, Syrup examines a world where "image" is more important than morality, celebrities are treated like deities and manipulative marketers roam the streets as self-proclaimed superheroes. Best of all, Sophia had an incredible wardrobe budget to work with, incorporating design powerhouses such as Givenchy and Chanel. I'm sold!
