2013 Met Gala Awards: "It" Girl Style

Wednesday, May 8, 2013
Two words signal the Christmas of the fashion industry: Met Gala. Each year, fashion and Hollywood's elite unite to celebrate the opening of the Metropolitan Museum's fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute. Besides a lovely way to spend an evening, the event gives us mere mortals a reason to ooh and aah over gorgeous gowns, make-up and hair.

This year's theme, "PUNK: Chaos to Couture" was followed through flawlessly by some. Others, not so much, but they still looked pretty. There have been plenty of "Best Dressed" coverage, but I'm not here for that.

Presenting...The "It" Moments of the 2013 Met Gala.

Best Train: Allison Williams
Dress: Altuzarra
The girl is stuh-ning, and this black ensemble with sheer patches really worked for her. My favorite part was the long train, which I am sure was slightly problematic when she wanted to move, but so delightful to look at.

Best Hair: Amber Heard's Deep Part and Soft Waves...
Dress: Emilio Pucci

and Minka Kelly's Bedazzled, Braided Up-Do
Dress: Carolina Herrera
Sorry, Nicole Richie.

Best Redemption from the Oscars: Anne Hathaway
Dress: Valentino
*slow clap*

Most "Not Crazy About the Dress, but You Look Beautiful in a Paper Sack" Moment:
Blake Lively
Dress: Gucci
I miss Gossip Girl.

Best Use of Spikes: Cara Delevingne
Dress: Burberry
I'd wear this on a typical Saturday night.

Most "I Wish This Was My Mom" Moment: Diane von Fürstenberg
Everything about this is amazing.

"Can I Be Her?" Moment: Emilia Clarke
Dress: Ralph Lauren
My Khaleesi is stunning in red.

Best Cut-Outs: Emma Watson
Dress: Prabal Gurung
Emma is definitely a fashion force to be reckoned with. (Sidenote, I cannot WAIT for The Bling Ring.)

Best Use of Fringe: Florence Welch
Dress: Givenchy
Flo always manages to look like herself, and I respect the hell out of it. On top of it, she always looks magical.

Here is Jennifer Lawrence Being Jennifer Lawrence
Dress: Dior
Not only did J. Law look fantastic in this Dior dress and accompanying veil, she photobombed Sarah Jessica Parker. She wins at EVERYTHING.

Best "I Saw This on the Runway and Wanted It SO BAD, But I Guess You Pull It Off Well" Moment:
Katy Perry
Dress: Dolce & Gabbana
The Fall 2013 RTW Dolce & Gabbana collection was one of my favorites of all time. The minute I spotted Katy in the ensemble, I squealed with delight.

Best Tiara: Michelle Williams
Dress: Saint Laurent
Neutral on the dress, but that tiara and Michelle's asymmetrical haircut deserve a nod of approval.

Best Overall Ensemble, Because She Followed the Theme Perfectly: Sarah Jessica Parker
Dress: Giles Deacon
As if anyone else could top that. Bravo, SJP!

And to wrap it up, a couple of my favorite candids from the night.

Jennifer Lawrence and SJP Having a Giggle

SJP and Lena Dunham Hugging it Out

Frank Ocean and Madonna Being Besties
